“I don’t think it’s exaggerating to say that Saturday’s assassination attempt on President Trump will be remembered as one of the darkest days in our nation’s history. The political temperature is at the highest point I can remember in my lifetime, while the country continues to be deeply polarized and divided.
“My hope is that the horrific event which took place on Saturday will cause people to pull back and change course from the hate driven rhetoric that is all to commonplace in today’s society. As a nation, as a society, we must all strive to do better.
“My thoughts and prayers are with President Trump, and the innocent victims and families who attended Saturday’s rally that will be forever impacted.”
