Police Chief Griffith tells WLEA that an Alfred resident found this gravestone while out walking, and that the resident contacted Alfred Police. Then, Alfred Police posted the above photo on Facebook, and got some leads. Here’s what the police chief posted on Facebook recently:
Alfred Police Department We have contacted Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cheektowaga and they are looking into it on their end. It is a possibility that the stone was replaced and the one we recoved is an old stone. I will update this posting as i get more information. Thanks to everyone that has called in with information. It has been very helpful in expediting the return of this stone to it rightful place.
