BATH – The Steuben County Public Health Department received notification of the deaths of two individuals who had previously tested positive for COVID. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Steuben County to 229.
One individual was a male resident from the Town of Erwin who died at the age of 70 and the other was a male resident from the City of Corning who died at the age of 76.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the gentlemen who have passed,” said Public Health Director, Darlene Smith. “As we head into the holiday and gathering season, we strongly recommend that everyone who is eligible to be vaccinated take this opportunity to be protected and to protect their families.”
There are 102 new cases of COVID since Monday’s update. Sadly, 2 more residents have passed. 44 more have recovered.
65% of today’s positives are not vaccinated and 74% of our cases who are hospitalized are not vaccinated.
A number of cases recently have been associated with Victory Highway Wesleyan Church. They may not have gotten COVID from the church, but attended or were present during their infectious period and could have spread it there. If you have been to Victory Highway Wesleyan Church since October 23, we encourage you to monitor for symptoms and consider getting tested.
