New York State Attorney General Leticia James has sent out an order to law enforcement statewide, saying to tell her office by August 14, if they have terminated the contracts with ICE. The order also says law enforcement has to have stopped working with ICE by August 25 or legal action will be taken. An organization out of Washington DC is considering filing a lawsuit to challenge the constitutionality of the state banning agreements with ICE. Yesterday, the Steuben County Public Safety Committee voted to send it to the full steuben county legislature to decide on whether to join the sheriff on any possible future litigation about ICE. Committee members Jeff Horton, Fred Potter, Paul Van Caseele and Dan Warriner voted yes, to move it to the full county legislature. Corning Democrat Joe Tobia voted no. The motion passed.
