Olive L. Drake, formerly of Rexville

REXVILLE/FAIRPORT: Olive L. Drake, 100, formerly of Rexville, passed away
Monday morning (Nov. 27, 2017) at the Fairport Baptist Home in Fairport
where she had resided since 2014.

Olive was born August 18, 1917 in Canisteo to Louis and Julia (Paul) Loper.
On June 29, 1935 in South Canisteo, she married Bernard B. Drake, Sr. who
predeceased her in November of 1988. She was also predeceased by two sons,
Dale Drake and Bernard B. Drake, Jr. a daughter Shirley Jo VanHoven and a
sister, Helen Russell.

Olive lived the better part of her life in the Canisteo/Rexville area where
she and her husband raised their family. For several years she was a nurse’s
aide at the former Bethesda Hospital in North Hornell. She was a member of
the First United Methodist Church in Canisteo where she was a member of the
Stephens/Gray Class and the Bell Choir Committee. The past ten years of her
life were spent in the Rochester/Fairport area near her son, Art.

Olive is survived by a son, Arthur (Joyce) Drake of Fairport, two daughters,
Linda (Richard) Mullen of Rexville and Sharon Griffith of Tulsa, OK. 11
grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great, great
grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm Thursday at the H.P. Smith &
Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo, where funeral and
committal services will take place immediately following calling hours at
6:00 pm. with Rev. Beverly Welch officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn
Cemetery in Canisteo.

Baptist Home, 4646 Nine Point Rd. Fairport, NY 14450 or to the First United
Methodist Church, 37 Greenwood St. Canisteo, NY 14823.
