O’Mara: New Medicare Rules Will Limit Opiod Pain Medicines For Chronic Pain Victims

December 3, 2018

ALBANY, NY – According to State Senator Tom O’Mara, there are new Medicare rules that will take effect in January, about chronic pain patients who use opiods. O’Mara says the new rules will limit the amount of pain medicine that a doctor can prescribe for a patient who is suffering from chronic pain. O’Mara says that he disagrees with what he is hearing about these new medicare rules, as he says he believes that chronic pain patients are in a different situation than other patients are (temporary acute pain patients, who are limited as to how many opiod medications that they can be given).
