HORNELL, NY – A joint venture between the Hornell Area Chamber of Commerce and a state funded job training program initiated by Senator Tom O’Mara has produced its first job in the Maple City. Under a new on the job training program, newly hired TTA employee Sully Sherwood will be trained at the Hornell facility with a reimbursement cost shared with the Chamber of Commerce and state of up to 50% for a set period of time.

Over the years Senator O’Mara has helped secure over $700,000 for the program and Griffin and O’Mara were enthusiastic to say that over 90% have gone on to full time, unsubsidized employment since it was initiated.

“The Chamber has provided on-the-job training for over 30 years and has one of the best records in transitioning trainees into full time employment,” said Griffin. And Senator Tom O’Mara added, “The Hornell Area Chamber of Commerce has a long standing, proven track record of using this strategy to bolster their workforce with quality, highly skilled workers.”

And finally TTA/Transitair & CFO manager Mike Nesbit concluded, “TTA will continue to support the outstanding job Tom O’Mara has done keeping the senate task of workforce development available to area businesses.”

TTA was founded in 1984 and is a multi-faceted equipment manufacturer, vehicle assembler and overhaul contractor for railcars and components.
