Corning Republican Assemblyman Phil Palmesano says about three dozen 6th graders from the Adirondacks, were invited to the state capital by a Republican from that area. The students went to Albany Thursday to see what the state legislature looks like when it’s in session.
So how did the trip go? Not well apparently. Palmesano says that the 6th graders were sitting up in the Assembly gallery watching a vote on the floor. Palmesano says, when a Republican Assemblyman pointed to the kids in the Assembly, saying that “we need to vote for this bill for the kids who are the future,’ a Democrat Assembly official, got the students kicked out, saying that they were being used as props, by the Republicans. “He complained to the Sgt. At Arms, who went up and told the students to leave,” Palmesano said. “This is an all new low, for the Assembly Democrats.”
Palmesano also pointed out, that the students traveled several hours on a bus, and got up at 4am to go on this field trip to Albany.
