FROM ASSEMBLYMAN PALMESANO: Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C-Corning) joined Assemblyman Michael Tannousis (R,C-Staten Island) and Assemblyman Patrick Chludzinski (R,C-Cheektowaga) at a press conference yesterday, to unveil a letter written to House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Kentucky) in advance of Gov. Hochul’s testimony before the committee, which will be on Thursday. The letter aims to give insight to the committee on the governor’s mishandling of the migrant crisis. The letter reads in part, “Governor Hochul’s sanctuary state policies have played a direct role in the ongoing migrant crisis throughout our state, despite bipartisan concern including repeated warnings from New York City Mayor Eric Adams. We believe that Governor Hochul must be held accountable for her failure to reverse the state’s sanctuary policies and recklessness with taxpayer dollars.”
“Congress should have all the facts in front of them when the governor testifies so she is not able to spin a story that New York is handling the surge in migrants adequately. We need real answers from Gov. Hochul on how she spent tax dollars and why she made the decisions she did. Transparency is often lacking in New York state, so we want to make sure the truth comes out. I hope Chairman Comer and the members of the House Oversight Committee carefully consider our letter and work to get to the bottom of this important issue,” said Palmesano.
