Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R, Corning) says the state budget deadline is being delayed and without good reason. Palmesano notes that he is voting for the budget extender, however he believes that this is too much of a regular thing. “Keeping our government open is critical and non-negotiable. This is not an isolated situation – this has become a pattern.” He says last year the state budget was 38 days late. “At some point, we have to stop treating this like a ‘new normal’.
