Paul Griffith Leaves Alfred Police Job – For Police Work In Cattaraugus County

May 14, 2025

Alfred Village Police Chief Paul Griffith has resigned from the Alfred Police Department.  He had been on administrative leave for a year.  Paul Griffith is now police chief in the Cattaraugus County Town of Allegany.   “They needed a chief there in Allegany,” Griffith tells WLEA News.  “They had an O.I.C. (Officer In Charge) for a while, but he was a fulltime school teacher who was trying to keep the police department running.  So they were looking for a chief of police and it just seemed to be a a good fit: I’m going from one college town (Alfred State, Alfred University) to another (St. Bonaventure).  What I’m doing in Allegany is very similar to what I was doing in Alfred,” Griffith explained.
