Plans For Local Shelter, If There Are Any Power Outages

August 13, 2016

HORNELL, NY – Appearing this morning on the top story show, Mayor Shawn Hogan spoke of the plans Hornell has in place, in case of any power outages during this time of extreme heat. Locations for shelter include the Hornell Arts Center on Broadway, as well as Hornell school buildings. “The big fear of these high temperatures is that people will dehydrate, particularly senior citizens and young people, so you have to drink and lot of water and stay hydrated and stay cool,” Mayor Hogan said. “We do have designated cooling centers, we have the Hornell Arts Center, we have the areas in the school system, where people can go to seek relief.”
