Possible Canisteo Fire District Moving Forward

Canisteo, NY – In the absence of village mayor Bill Tucker, Deputy Mayor Tim Harkenrider took charge at Monday nights monthly meeting and a number of resolutions were discussed and passed.

In a fire district update, Harkenrider told the board that after a number of meetings and passed resolutions with the towns of Hartsville and Canisteo, it was unanimously agreed upon to move forward looking into a joint fire district.

Also board member Paul Cone was pleased with the new Canisteo Police Department website that has just recently been created. People interested in happenings at the Canisteo PD can access their website at www.canisteopd.com . Also the Canisteo PD will be putting on a mock DWI accident for all high school students that plan on attending the upcoming prom.

In other news a resolution was passed to continue a monetary award for high school students planning on going into the military. Harkenrider noted that this is totally funded by local officials and is not taxpayer money.

Events permitted by the board are as follows: The Canisteo- Greenwood class of 2006 will have a chicken barbeque pickup in the village parking lot adjacent to South Main Street on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 from 2pm to 7:30pm. Also the Canisteo Police Club will use the same parking area for a pulled pork barbeque dinner pickup on Friday, July 22, 2016.
