Prayer Okay In Greece
The Greece Town Board has always opened its meetings with a prayer but atheists objected and the issue finally ended up in the Supreme Court where by a 5-4 decision, the nation’s highest court has said prayer is not unconstitutional. The ruling is a major victory for Greece, a suburb of Rochester.
Justice Anthony Kennedy, writing for the majority, said prayers are ceremonial—even Christian prayers—and in keeping with American traditions.
