Priscilla Eleachea (Haley) Buono, of Hornell

HORNELL-Priscilla Eleachea (Haley) Buono, 80, of Hornell, passed away on Friday (Aug. 19, 2022) after a long illness at Elderwood Nursing Home, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 20, 1942 in Hornell to Robert G. and Margaret M. (Tucker) Haley.

Eleachea graduated from Hornell High School, Class of 1960. After high school, she worked at Woolworth’s and had various other jobs. Eleachea retired in 2012 from St. James Mercy Hospital where she worked as an E.R. secretary.

Eleachea enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends and was the life of the party. She loved having a house full of nieces and nephews in the summers. Eleachea also loved throwing parties, from St. Patrick’s Day to Family Reunions. Her cooking and baking will be missed by many family and friends. If there was music playing, Eleachea was dancing.

Eleachea enjoyed all different types of crafts, including sewing, painting and other needlework. She took great pride in her flower gardens. Eleachea was an active member of the Ladies of Columbus, Turning Point Food Pantry and T.O.P.S. She also enjoyed doing water aerobics at the YMCA.

In addition to her parents, Eleachea is predeceased by her brothers, Robert and his wife, Sybil, Thomas, and his wife Ruth, Lawrence, and Joseph Haley. Also, by her brothers-in-law, John Leo Clancy and Rolland Thompson.

Surviving are her children, Christopher (Bridgit) Buono, Haley Leonard, and Margaret Buono of Hornell and Joseph (Mary) Buono of Canandaigua, NY. Eleachea has six grandchildren including Shawn (Renee) Buono, Jaden Buono, Sara Leonard, Meaghan Leonard, Aubrey Buono and Rowan Buono. She is also survived by sisters, Margaret Clancy and Patricia Thompson and brothers, Timothy (Sharon) Haley and Eugene (Karen) Haley, all of Hornell; sister-in-law, Sandra Haley; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours are 4-7 p.m. Friday (Aug. 26, 2022) at the Bishop-Johnson & DeSanto Funeral Home, 285 Main St., Hornell. Relatives and friends are invited to join her family at St. Ann’s Church, 31 Erie Ave., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 27, 2022). Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont, at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to Catholic Charities, 23 Liberty St., Bath, NY 14810. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
