Rebecca M. “Becky” Bassett, of Andover

ANDOVER: Rebecca M. “Becky” Bassett, 65, of County Route 21 passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon (June 25, 2017) at her home surrounded by the comfort, care and love of her family, following an extended illness.

Rebecca, who was affectionately called “Becky” was born February 2, 1952 in Hornell to the late Earl and Ethel (Hill) Jennings. On December 18, 1988 in Greenwood, she married Carroll L. “Leroy” Bassett who survives and resides in Andover. In addition to her parents, Becky was predeceased by a granddaughter Brittany Wentworth and Step-daughter, Tabitha Bryant.

Becky was a home maker, wife and mother who loved and cherished her family and the time spent with them. She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, an avid fisherman and one who also enjoyed crafts, particularly crocheting. Becky was also an avid animal “hoarder” who at one time was involved in Husky breeding and raising these dogs.

In addition to her husband of 28 years Carroll “Leroy” Bassett of Andover, Becky is survived by a son Dallas Bassett at home, five daughters, Heidi (Kevin) Margeson of Canisteo, Melanie (Ken) Ruppert of Ulysses, Pa., Stacey (Todd) Ellis of Mims, FL., Michelle Sandford of Albuquerque, NM. and Kathy Brown of Canisteo, one step-daughter, Samantha Bassett of Greenwood.

Becky is also survived by two brothers, Dale (Connie) Jennings of Greenville, Ohio, Earl (Pamela) Webber of Richmond, Ohio, three sisters: Shirley (Merrill) Mead of Hornell, Darlene (Hal) Ellis and Kelly (Eugene) Albright all of Mims, Fl. as well as 18 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life and memorial service will take place Wednesday at 11:00 am at the Community of Christ Church, Main St. in Greenwood.

Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo.
