Residents in Bryant School Area File Petition Against School

October 5th, 2016

HORNELL, NY – A property owner in the neighborhood of Bryant School presented the Hornell School Board with a signed petition from local residents Wednesday in regards to loud noises coming from Chiller machines attached to the back wall of the school. “The last few years it has not been a problem because they were running in the daytime,” said concerned resident Teresa Pulkowsky, but this past summer they have been running continuously from 5pm to 11pm, and they sound like a hovercraft which is very disturbing to the neighborhood.”

Pulkowsky said she was told it is within acceptable decibel limits. After further pressing the issue she was told the problem would be fixed but as of yet nothing has been done. “I have talked to the manufacturers of Chiller machines, Trane, and they have told me that walls or barriers can be built around them which will deaden the noise, and we would like to see that done,” explained Pulkowsky.

The board had no response at this time.
