Road Work Coming Up In Friendship And Belmont

FROM THE N.Y.S.D.O.T.: The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists of ramp closures along Interstate 86 in the Towns of Friendship and Belmont, Allegany County, starting Friday, August 7, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., to accommodate a paving project at the following dates and locations:

Friday, August 7: Westbound off-ramp at Exit 29 (Friendship)
Monday, August 10: Westbound on-ramp at Exit 29 (Friendship)
Tuesday, August 11: Eastbound on-ramp at Exit 29 (Friendship)
Wednesday, August 12: Eastbound off-ramp at Exit 30 (Belmont)
Thursday, August 13: Eastbound on-ramp at Exit 30 (Belmont)
Friday, August 14: Westbound off-ramp at Exit 30 (Belmont)
Monday, August 17: Westbound on-ramp at Exit 30 (Belmont)

Variable message signboards have been positioned to alert motorists ahead of the closures. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detours and anticipate travel delays during this time or seek alternate routes, as necessary.

Construction activities are weather dependent and subject to change based on conditions.

Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
