Steuben County Department of Public Works Commissioner Eric Rose has announced that beginning Tuesday, October 7, the Department will begin a road repaving project on County Route 68, extending from the Hornell City line to Olin Road.
The project will proceed in the following phases:
Phase 1 – Milling: Approximately four inches of existing asphalt will be removed using a milling machine, and the material will be trucked off-site. This phase is expected to take two to three days.
Phase 2 – Paving: Once milling is complete, crews will install four inches of new asphalt. This phase is anticipated to take approximately three days, weather permitting.
Phase 3 – Finishing Work: Following paving, crews will install new traffic lines and any necessary shoulder material, which is expected to take about two additional days, depending on weather conditions.
Please note that paving work is scheduled to continue on Saturday, October 11, and, if necessary, on Columbus Day, Monday, October 13, to ensure timely completion of the project.
“We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during this important infrastructure improvement,” Rose said. “These upgrades are vital to maintaining safe and efficient transportation routes throughout Steuben County.”
