Robert Gerald “Jerry” Hillman, formerly of Hornell

HORNELL-Robert Gerald “Jerry” Hillman, 51, formerly of Glen Ave., passed away early Tuesday morning (Jan. 31, 2017) at Shore Winds Nursing Home in Rochester, after a long illness.

Born in Hornell on Oct. 27, 1965, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Baird) Hillman. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Theodore “Ted” Hillman and his uncle, Leo Hillman.

A lifelong resident of Hornell, Jerry was a graduate of St. Ann’s School and Hornell High School.

He began his career as an electrician with the former Morrison-Knudson Co.
(M-K) and later with Alstom in Hornell.

Jerry attended St. Ann’s Church of Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Hornell and was a member of the Hornell Council No. 243, Knights of Columbus.

An avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed playing soccer.

His loving family includes his daughter, Mary Hillman of Corning; his brother, John Hillman of Rochester; his two sisters, Kathleen Hillman of Hornell and Barbara Hillman of Bel Air, Md.; his sister-in-law, Sandy Hillman of Hornell; his uncle, Robert (Eleanor) Hillman of Hornell; his two aunts, Isabelle Hillman of Hornell and Rosemary Walton of Candler, N.C.; also his nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc. in Hornell is honored to serve the family of Robert Gerald “Jerry” Hillman.

Calling hours are Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell. Friends are invited to meet his family at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
