Schumer, Gillibrand and Reed, Working To Save Wellsville Jobs

May 4, 2018

WELLSVILLE, NY – German energy company Siemens bought out Dresser Rand, and now Seimens owns Dresser Rand plants in Olean and Wellsville. At that Wellsville plant, Dresser Rand handled a lot of government contracts. However, Seimens has sold the government contract work to the Curtiss Wright company, and Curtiss Wright had planned to close the Wellsville plant and move the jobs down south. As a result, Senators Schumer and Gillibrand and Congressman Tom Reed are trying to convince Curtiss Wright to stay in Wellsville, instead of moving down south. During this week’s press call, Congressman Reed spoke of how he is staying in touch with representatives from Dresser Rand, Siemens and Curtiss Wright, over the transition going on in Wellsville. Reed also says he’s working with Senators Schumer and Gillibrand on writing a letter about what’s going on in Wellsville.
