The opener was a pitching duel between Peyton Ahlstrom (Finger Lakes CC) and Marcus Liss.

Sherrill got the bats going off of the Steamers bullpen. They scored three to cut the lead to one in the 6th and added four more in the 7th to take the 8-5 lead.

Hornell didn’t go away. With one out Tim Burns (Maine Presque Isle) and Justin Swanson (North Park) singled and Danny Melendez (Finger Lakes CC) drew a walk to load the bases. After a popout, Wessels hit a two-run single to center that scored two and cut the lead to 8-7.

Joseph Hartnett came out of the pen and got a ground out to secure the win.

Burns and Swanson were each 2 for 3 in the game while Brooks and Wessels each had three RBI.

Xavier Garrity (Webster) did not factor in the decision but threw five solid innings. He allowed one earned run on seven hits while walking one and striking out six.
