From Congressman Joe Sempolinski:
With President Biden’s signature on the National Defense Authorization Act, the 21st Century Assistive Technology Act has now become law. Congressman Joe Sempolinski was the primary Republican sponsor working with Rep. Mark DeSaulnier (D-CA) to pass the 21st Century Assistive Technology Act, which protects and uplifts Americans living with disabilities.
“I can not tell you how proud I am that the 21st Century Assistive Technology Act is now signed into law. The fact that we were able to get this passed in such a short amount of time speaks to the sheer hard work and effort myself and my team put into making sure this life-changing bill crossed the finish line,” said Sempolinski. “I have had many wonderful experiences as the Representative of the 23rd District and was honored to vote on many important bills, but this ranks as my proudest accomplishment. When I see what this bill does for those living with disabilities and the profound effect it will have on their lives, I know that we made a serious difference.”
21st Century Assistive Technology Act (H.R. 9028) will modernize and update the current law authorizing State Assistive Technology Act Programs and Protection and Advocacy Systems related to assistive technology. This bill promotes awareness of these critical devices and services while improving access to the life-changing technology for those living with disabilities of all ages.
