Sen. O’Mara: Medicaid Waste On Taxi Rides

December 20, 2017

ALBANY, NY – State Comptroller Tom Dinapoli recently did an audit of the NYS Health Department. The report concluded that the health department has overpaid huge amounts of money for non emergency medicaid transportation. According to the state comptroller’s report, taxi companies statewide have gotten big money from the health department, 6.2 million dollars worth. In the report, it was noted that in many cases, rides were paid for, for those who did not need medicaid payments, in order to get a taxi cab.

Senator O’Mara wants the health department to be removed from this duty of non emergency medicaid paid for transportation, and give it back to small town bus companies.
