ALBANY, NY – State Senator Cathy Young (R, Olean), chairperson of the State Senate Finance Committee, is chairing a hearing today in the state senate, called “The Joint Legislative Meeting on the Executive Budget”.
During the hearing this morning, Senator Young had some hard questions for New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio. Young questioned the need for more state financial aid for New York City, saying that New York City had a very large surplus at the end of the last fiscal year, and she questioned why New York City government needs so much funding from the state government. Mayor DeBlasio answered with a long list of NYC’s financial needs, and stressed the importance of New York City, to the rest of the state.
