FROM SHERIFF JIM ALLARD: Due to the recent storms containing heavy and concentrated rains, and the subsequent rise in lake level, a potential for damage to property exists on the shoreline of Waneta and Lamoka Lakes. Due to floating and submerged debris a potential danger to safety also exists on Waneta and Lamoka Lakes. Schuyler County Sheriff Kevin Rumsey and Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard are advising a complete cessation of boating traffic on Waneta and Lamoka Lakes until the lake level is receded to protect both property and life.
