Gannett media outlets report that Steuben County is the latest county to sign up to help ICE with undocumented immigrants. The story from Gannett says Sheriff Jim Allard signed two agreements in July for Immigration and Customs Enforcement to authorize and train members of his staff to perform ICE duties at the Steuben County jail and to question and arrest other people suspected of illegally being in the U.S. Allard told USA today that quote, “We support, and collaborate with, all our local, state and federal law enforcement partners – and these agreements allow us to meet our public safety mission more fully in Steuben County by having an increased partnership with our federal partners.”
