Even though it’s been almost three weeks since the flooding from Tropical Storm Debby, it’s going to be a while until all the road damage is completely known to road crews. The sheriff says, the crews are focusing on roads all all over, especially the roads with conditions like Norton Hollow Road in Greenwood, and any roads with gaping holes in them in Steuben County. “I think the emphasis is always to get at least one lane open,’ Allard tells WLEA News. “After Hurricane Fred in 2021, that was the focus – to get one lane on every road, to be safe and passable, so that we don’t have residents that are stranded, or having to go 15 miles out of their way to get to town. You need to have one passable lane so that fire trucks, ambulances and other emergency first responders can get through. Not to mention, we’re only a couple of months away from snow, and the heavy equipment will have to get on to these roads,” Allard said.
