Sheriff: Child Accidentally Gets Into Opiods In The House, Two Residents In The House, Have Been Charged

BATH, NY – From Sheriff Jim Allard:

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on December 4, 2020, deputies of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kelsey R. Ritter, age 24, and Anthony A. DeVito, age 30, of State Route 415, Bath, New York, following an investigation into a reported overdose of a child at that residence. Deputies and Investigators responded to the residence and recovered suspected opioid compounds.

The child was transported to a medical trauma facility and admitted for treatment. Ms. Ritter and Mr. DeVito were charged with one count each of Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, a class D Felony, and one count each of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Ms. Ritter and Mr. DeVito were arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and released. Further charges are expected.
