Sheriff Cicirello: A Threat Was Made Against A Wellsville School

March 23, 2026

From Sheriff Scott A. Cicirello: The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office has been actively involved with the investigation into a threat made within the Wellsville School District. This incident has been thoroughly investigated by the New York State Police, Wellsville Police, Wellsville Central School Administration, Allegany County Threat Assessment Group and the ACSO. All steps have been taken to address the matter through appropriate resources. The person has been identified and all avenues of recourse have been utilized. I understand parents have concerns, and justifiably so. I am fully aware of every detail of this case. That being said, I have two children in the school district and I will be sending them to school tomorrow without hesitation.

From The Wellsville Board of Education & Administration: We continue to monitor closely and remain focused on the threat reported on Friday, and are working in direct coordination with law enforcement and appropriate agencies. The individual involved has been identified, and the situation is being actively managed. As a precaution, we have increased security presence and are taking additional measures to ensure the safety of students and staff. At this time, school will continue as scheduled. We truly understand the concern this creates. The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority, and we will provide updates if conditions change. If you have information or concerns, please contact the district office or local law enforcement directly.
