HORNELL- The Hornell City School district held their last regular board meeting for the summer, on June 15.
The district honored all those who have retired with a celebration ceremony.
The following have retired; Mary Cavalletti, Patricia Clancy, Kathryn Colucci, Collette Cornish, Sherry Kramer, Barbara Leaman, Lisa McNeill, Janice Raish, Nancy Thompson, Jane Trescott, Edward Belin, Damien DeMarco, and Mary Mauro.
Superintendent Jeremy Palotti said he is thankful to all who have given years of service to make this school a better place.
“I want to give a big thank you to all of you for your years of service to our district and the kids. We will never be able to replace the connections and experience you have shared over the years,”he said.
Palotti said no comment on updates involving the investigation into the assistant principal at this time.
Assistant Principal Eli Marcus is charged with 10 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, for allegedly, during the 2020-2021/2021-2022 school years, that he acted in a manner to be injurious to the physical, mental or moral welfare of a child under the age of 17.
Jim Caneen of Hornell Area Wind Ensemble donated a large base drum to the music department. He gave a presentation on working with the school for 36 years. He said the students and staff have been wonderful. He hoped to do more with them in the future.
The reorganizational meeting will be held in the district conference room on July 6 at 5:15 pm.
