CANISTEO, NY – The Canisteo town board passed a resolution last evening to discuss the idea of making the town clerk a part time position upon the conclusion of current clerk Nancy McMindes term. McMindes has announced she may not seek another term and the board is considering this as a cost cutting measure.
Also a resolution was passed to discuss eliminating one of the two town justice positions and going back to one as in previous years. The reason behind this is also to save money.
In other news the bidding process on the new roof for the Town Hall building was put on hold until they figure out what direction to go for purchasing materials. Another unanswered question is whether they can add another layer of shingles on top of the old ones or if they need to completely tear off the old roof. A decision will be made in the near future.
