HORNELL, NY – Statement From St James:
The 16th annual “Friends Fore St. James” golf tournament to benefit St. James Foundation raised more than $27,000 at the event held Friday, August 2, at Twin Hickory Golf Club in Hornell. Twenty teams and thirty-two sponsors participated in this year’s tournament, as well as twenty-six volunteers from the hospital and community. The Foundation provides resources to benefit St. James Hospital, and this year the proceeds from the golf tournament will help fund the purchase of vein-finding machines.
“We’re very appreciative of the continued support this tournament receives and the dollars raised each year,” said Linda Blauers, Foundation Director. “As we near our March 2020 new hospital construction completion date, we’re hopeful the community will continue to show its steadfast support for local healthcare services here at St. James Hospital.”
This year’s “Friends Fore St. James” title sponsor was Elderwood, along with a number of other sponsors: Steuben Trust Company, Razak Associates, UR Medicine/St. James Medical Staff, Simmons Rockwell, LeChase Construction, First Heritage Federal Credit Union, Doyle Security Systems, Sodexo, HB Cornerstone, and Big Fox/Kickin Country. Additional sponsors and prize donors may be found at www.stjamesmercy.org/foundation-golf.
With a score of 59, the first-place team, Simmons Rockwell included Gavin Papworth, Pierre Meldrum, Lisa Schwartz, and Mike Sciotti. Women’s longest drive was won by Lisa Schwartz and men’s longest drive was won by Mike Sciotti. Men’s closest to the pin was won by Tom Valentine.
“We are grateful to the many sponsors and players for the annual Friends Fore St. James golf tournament, as well as Hospital staff and volunteers who worked diligently to make it a great success,” said Blauers.
