St. James Groundbreaking Coming Up This Wednesday

HORNELL, NY – St. James Hospital officials will have their ground breaking this coming Wednesday, November 8, in North Hornell.

HORNELL, N.Y. – Leaders from St. James Mercy Hospital and the greater Hornell area, as well as staff, community members, and others, will gather in Hornell at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 8 to host a Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Hornell Medical Village, the future home of the new Hospital and Medical Office Building. The community is invited to join in the celebration. A brief reception with refreshments will follow the ceremony.

LOCATION: 7301 Seneca Road, North Hornell, NY

The Medical Village will provide for accessible and efficiently organized ambulatory care services with 15 inpatient beds, as well as a beautifully appointed Medical Office Building. The Village concept brings together primary care, specialists, emergency medicine, surgery, outpatient services, inpatient care, and more on one health care campus. This will make it easier for patients to access quality care, support efforts at recruiting and retaining top providers to the area, and increase efficiency across the spectrum of services.

The new two-story, 87,000-square-foot St. James Mercy Hospital will feature:
• 15 inpatient beds
• Emergency Department with 8 treatment rooms and 4 observation rooms
• Surgical Suite with 2 operating rooms, 2 procedures rooms, and 15 pre/post-surgery rooms
• Phlebotomy and Lab
• Pharmacy
• Imaging Services including diagnostic radiology, ultrasound, CT, and MRI
• Infusion Services
• Cafeteria and Dining Room
• Gift and Coffee Shop
• Meeting Rooms

The new Medical Office Building will include:
• Primary Care Offices (pediatrics, family medicine, dental)
• Specialty Outpatient Clinics (i.e. General Surgery, Orthopedics)
• Express Care
• Physical Therapy
• Cardiac Rehabilitation
• Administration

The Medical Office Building is expected to open in 2018. The new Hospital will open in 2019.

St. James Mercy Hospital was founded in 1890 and now provides a full range of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency, acute medical and surgical, imaging, and laboratory. Specialty services include orthopedics, general surgery, physical therapy, Express Care, mammography, digital imaging, a Coumadin clinic, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, and a personal emergency response system called MercyLine. The Hospital works on an ongoing basis to build collaborative relationships with a host of regional partners, in order to ensure the continued continuity of critical health care services in the Hornell community.
