St James Hospital’s Transition Is Still On – And Visitor Rules Are Updated

March 17, 2020

HORNELL, NY – The St James Hospitals transition is still on schedule,
the Canisteo Street’s “old building” closes at 759AM and the new building in North Hornell, opens at 800AM.

Also, this message was sent from St James Hospital, regarding the hospital’s visiting rules:

In accordance with the Steuben County Health Department, staff members in the St. James inpatient unit have begun informing families that they will no longer be able to visit inpatients. This is in response to the anticipated rise in COVID-19 cases regionally. The only stated exception is one guardian for pediatric patients. Exceptions for extreme circumstances such as end-of-life or proxies of patients who can’t make health decisions will be limited and made on a case-by-case basis. This is a system-wide UR Medicine announcement to be re-evaluated March 29, similar to the rescheduling of non-acute procedures and office visits announced earlier today. We appreciate the community’s cooperation as we manage this every-changing situation, to keep our patients and staff safe.
