St. James Update

January 27, 2015

HORNELL, NY –  St. James Hospital announced on Tuesday that 581 hospital employees received a 90-day notice that their St. James Mercy employment will end as of April 30.

St. James will be closing on May 1, except for the emergency room, although there is some uncertainty as to whether Trinity is going to shut the hospital down without the state health department’s approval.  Hospital CEO Jen Sullivan says that nearly two thirds of those employees will be able to be picked up by Oak Orchards and the other new medical companies she says will be involved with what she calls the “new vision”.

Hornell Mayor Shawn Hogan will be talking about the hospital situation this morning, on the Newsmaker Show, with Kevin Doran hosting, after the 8:30 news on AM 1480 WLEA.
