State Lawmakers Talk About The Latest Accusations Against The Governor

March 11, 2021

ALBANY, NY – From Assemblyman Phil Palmesano: “The number of disturbing scandals surrounding Gov. Cuomo are very serious, can’t be ignored, and must be addressed. From the nursing home tragedy cover-up to the ever-growing number of sexual harassment allegations, there is no question, this has become a major distraction in Albany which has severely compromised the governor’s ability to govern our state. We have so many important issues impacting New Yorkers that need our immediate attention and action, now. For the good of the Office of Governor and for the good of our state, the governor should resign immediately.”

From Assemblywoman Marjorie Byrnes: “The details of sexual harassment against the governor are shocking and deeply unsettling for all women across our state, and particularly women who are survivors of sexual assault and harassment. The fact that this pattern of behavior has been tolerated, and is continuing to be tolerated, at the highest levels of our government, sends a sickening message to every woman and girl in our state. For the governor: time’s up. I have already called for the governor to resign because of his administration’s manipulation of the state’s nursing homes data during the pandemic. Because he does not have the integrity to resign and allow our state to move forward, I also called for his impeachment and am working with my colleagues in the Assembly Republican Conference to move forward with the impeachment process. We urge our colleagues across the aisle to join us quickly.”

From Assemblynan Joe Giglio: “The governor’s pattern of behavior is disgusting and disgraceful. Had they done something about the situation with the second accuser, Chalotte Bennett, this may never have happened. This latest accusation shows an escalation of what is going on and moves into the possibility of a criminal offense. There are too many allegations, his apologies and excuses are feeble and hollow, he should resign immediately.”

From State Senator Tom O’Mara, appearing on WHCU Ithaca this morning, said the following: “I don’t think there’s any real doubt that at this point, that these accusations are truthful, and we need to move things along as quickly as possible. We’ve got a pending investigation from the attorney general on these issues, and there are calls for articles of impeachment to be brought.”
