The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation of SP Bath reports the arrest of Terry C. Long, age 52, of Bath, NY, and Tammy J. Havens, age 52, of Prattsburgh, NY, following an investigation into alleged criminal contempt and witness intimidation.
On June 23, 2025, Investigators of SP Bath were contacted by a representative of the Steuben County District Attorney’s Office regarding messages sent to a protected party in an ongoing criminal matter. The investigation determined that Tammy J. Havens had contacted the victim on behalf of Terry C. Long, who was incarcerated at the time, and attempted to influence the victim to recant sworn statements in exchange for property.
Further review of Steuben County Jail communication records revealed that Long had directed Havens to contact the victim, offering inducements and making threats through electronic messages.
On June 25, 2025, Havens was arrested at SP Bath and charged with:
- Criminal Facilitation 4th (A Misdemeanor)
- Tampering with a Witness 4th (A Misdemeanor)
She was processed and remanded to the Steuben County Jail to await centralized arraignment, and an order of protection was obtained on behalf of the victim.
Following continued investigation and presentation to a Steuben County Grand Jury, both Havens and Long were indicted on October 14, 2025.
On October 27, 2025, Long was transported to SP Bath by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (NYSDOCCS) and formally processed on the indictment charges. He was subsequently returned to DOCCS custody.
The indictment accuses Terry C. Long of committing the following offenses:
- Bribing a Witness (D Felony)
- Aggravated Family Offense (E Felony)
- Tampering with a Witness 4th (A Misdemeanor)
- Criminal Contempt 2nd (A Misdemeanor)
