Steamers Friday Night Double Header Scores (Steamers Saturday Game Was Rained Out)

Friday Night — The Steamers tie the opener and win the nightcap

The Hornell Steamers and the Dansville Gliders tied 1-1 in the opener of a Western Division doubleheader and then the Steamers earned a 6-1 win in the nightcap. Hornell is now 11-6-1 at the halfway point of the season.

Elijah Nichols (Arkansas State) led off the game with a double and came around to score when Jackson Legg (LSU Eunice) hit a RBI single.

Russell Golembe tied the game in the 3rd with a RBI single.

Both teams had chances to break the tie but the pitching staff stranded runners on base.

Braden McLin (Louisiana Christian) allowed just one run on seven hits in six innings of work. He walked one and struck out four. Danik Reed (Nunez CC) allowed just one hit and a walk in the final two innings.

Raleigh Walker allowed just one run and six hits in seven innings of work. He walked one and struck out eight. Evan Mello got the final three outs.

Legg was 2 for 4 with a RBI while Brody Langlotz (Gulf Coast CC) was 2 for 4.

Lance Griggs was 2 for 3 while Golembe was 2 for 4 for Dansville.

In the nightcap, the Steamers got solid pitching and timely hitting. Mason McClurg (Finger Lakes CC) allowed just one unearned run in six innings of work. He let up three hits and walked just one. Cowan Alfonso (Louisiana Christian) got the final three outs.

Alex Dupuy (LSU Eunice) and Wyatt Argentieri (Genesee CC) accounted for most of the Steamer offense. Dupuy collected a RBI single in the 2nd and Argentieri followed with a two-RBI single over a drawn-in infield.

Dansville scored their lone run of the game on a sac fly by Cooper Berry in the 5th.

Hornell added three insurance runs in the 6th when Dupuy hit a two-run single to right and scored on a Argentieri RBI infield single.

Dupuy and Argentieri were each 2 for 3 with 3 RBI while Langlotz was 2 for 3 and finished the doubleheader 4 for 7.

Hornell is scheduled to travel to Olean on Saturday for a 4 p.m. contest with the Oilers.

Also – Hornell and Olean’s Saturday mage was rained out – will play Monday – all day rain and thunderstorms has forced the postponement of the Hornell Steamers game at Olean on Saturday. The two teams will make up the game on Monday at Bradner Stadium. First pitch will be at 7 p.m.
