Steamers Win Both Games In Yesterday’s Dbl Hdr

The Hornell Steamers defeated the Olean Oilers 9-4 in both games of a Tuesday doubleheader. The Steamers are now 6-5 on the year. In the opener, the Steamers rallied from an early deficit and scored runs in every inning except the 1st.
Chase Fischer hit a three-run homer to centerfield to give Olean the early lead.
Hornell got on the board in the 2nd when Markus Brehm (Finger Lakes CC) scored from third while Danik Reed (Nunez CC) was in a rundown between first and second.
Brody Langlotz (Gulf Coast State College) gave Hornell their first lead when he hit a line drive three-run homer over the centerfield fence to make it 4-3.

Olean tied it on a Jason Story single in the 4th but Jackson Legg (LSU Eunice) got the lead right back with a two-run single up the middle. Elijah Nichols (Arkansas State) hit a RBI triple to make it 7-4 after five. Finn Ellis (U of Charleston) collected a RBI single in the 6th and Langlotz capped the scoring when he scurried home on a wild pitch. Braden McLin (Louisiana Christian) earned the win with five innings of work on the mound. He allowed four runs on seven hits while walking three and striking out four. Logan Hoyt (Alfred State) walked one and struck out one in the 6th and Cowan Alfonso (Louisiana Christian) got the final three outs to close the game.

Langlotz was 2 for 2 with 3 RBI while Legg was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI. Nichols and McLin also collected a pair of hits. After Eli Fuselier (Nunez CC) got out of a bases loaded jam in the 1st, Cooper Dailey (Delgado CC) gave the Steamers a lead they would never give up when he hit a two-RBI double down the right field line. In the 2nd, Wyatt Argentieri (Genesee CC) collected a RBI single and McLin followed with a RBI single of his own.

Bryce Rudeisil cut the lead in half with a two-RBI double in the 3rd and Story cut it to 4-3 when he stole home on a double steal. Dailey plated a run in the 5th on a sac fly and Fischer cut it back to a one-run game with a sac fly for Olean in the 6th.
In the bottom of the 6th, Marcus Brehm (Finger Lakes CC) scored on an error, Nichols followed with a RBI single, and McLin added a pair of insurance runs with a RBI single.

Fuselier pitched 5.1 innings to earn the win. He allowed four runs on seven hits while walking and striking out five. Shawn Kimball (Genesee CC) got the final five outs to earn the save. Dailey was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI, McLin was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI, and Argentier was 2 for 3 with a RBI.

Hornell is back home today for a 7 p.m. contest with the Horseheads Hitmen. Prior to the game the Steamers will honor the State Champion Arkport-Canaseraga Wolves.
