The NY Times reported on Friday, that Governor Kathy Hochul gave a pardon to a man who had been in a state prison since the late 1980’s, after shooting a person in a pool hall in New York City. The prisoner, who claimed self-defenwse at the time of the 1988 incident, was going to be deported to Laos, where he came from during the Vietnam War.
House Republican Leadership Chairwoman Elise Stefanik released the following statement about this pardon: “Kathy Hochul was caught red handed for secretly pardoning a violent illegal felon. Her dangerous secret pardon of this violent criminal illegal who should have been deported 35 years ago after his conviction is just another example of her putting criminals and illegals first instead of law abiding New Yorkers. What is most shameful is the Worst Governor in America Kathy Hochul issued this heinous pardon in secret, hoping New Yorkers wouldn’t find out.”
