Stephen M. “Steve” Cameron, 61, of Brooklyn, NY, formerly of Hornell, died Friday, April 25, 2014 at Calvary Hospital, following a long illness.

Born in Hornell on May 7, 1952, he was the son of Dr. Robert & Betty (Roth) Cameron.

Steve grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of St. Ann’s School. He later graduated from Hornell High School (class of 1971). Following high school, Steve attended Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis, IN (affiliated with Purdue University).

Throughout the years, Steve resided in several locations, including Atlanta, GA, Fort. Lauderdale, FL and has resided in NYC for the past nine years. He was an accomplished artist and won numerous awards for his works. He was employed by “Fantastic Creations” as a designer / artist and traveled nationally and internationally working with numerous companies throughout the world.

Steve had a lifelong affection for horses. He was an accomplished equestrian rider and in his younger years enjoyed competitive equestrian riding and also participating in traditional fox hunts. Over the years, Steve owned several horses — most recently his beloved “Star”.

Surviving are 3 brothers, Francis “F.C.” Cameron of Chambersburg, PA, Bruce “Doc” Cameron of Chambersburg, PA and Casey (Debbie) Cameron of Hornell; several nieces & nephews.

The family of Stephen M. “Steve” Cameron will receive friends on Saturday, June 21, 2014, from 12:00 (noon) until 1:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY, where a Memorial Service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 1:00 PM with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.
