Steuben Co Democrats/Hornell Dems Statement

November 6, 2024

FROM COUNTY DEMOCRAT CHAIR SHAWN HOGAN: “The election is over and we all must focus on our future for our children and grandchildren. Let’s end the bitterness and the anger. The American people have spoken, that is all that needs to be said. Be understanding and kind to one another, we are neighbors, we are friends, we are Americans.”

FROM HORNELL DEMOCRAT CHAIR JOHN CLINTON BRADLEY: “It is the morning after Election Day. As I reflect on the results, two words—gratitude and perseverance—come to mind. Gratitude. I am thankful to live in a democracy where we, the people, choose our leaders. I am grateful for the poll workers and election officials who work hard to ensure free and fair elections. I am thankful for the countless volunteers who registered voters, staffed headquarters, placed yard signs, knocked on doors, wrote postcards, made phone calls, held house parties, posted on social media, and watched the polls. I am grateful for the local Democrats who ran for office in a county that is majority Republican. I am thankful that Proposition 1 passed and that our state constitution will protect reproductive choice and other freedoms.
Perseverance. Hornell Democrats are not going anywhere. We are here to stay, and our commitment to our cause is unwavering. While we are a political minority in this area, we are strong and committed. We will continue working in our community, advocating for progressive change that benefits everyone. You can count on us to run for municipal offices next year. We will keep organizing and expanding our network. We invite you to join us at https://www.hornelldemocrats.org/connect.”
