Steuben Co Emergency Services Director’s Advice On Dealing With The Heat Advisory

June 17, 2024

Our News Dept caught up with Steuben County Public Safety/ Emergency Services Director Tim Marshall. Marshall tells us that he and the county Emergency Services Office are monitoring the weather and at this point, Marshall recommends the following: Public Libraries can be used as Cooling Centers, as can St. Mary’s Church on East Morris Street in Bath. Another suggestion: lakes and ponds are good areas to use for cooling.
Marshall also says that St. Mary’s is open from 10am-8pm Today through Friday this week, for cooling center purposes.

Other advice from the County Public Safety Director: Stay out of the sun as much as possible, wear light clothing, drink plenty of water, don’t over-exert yourself, avoid alcohol and caffeine (as those drinks tend to dehydrate).
