Today, the Steuben County Legislature presented the county budget. County Manager Jack Wheeler says the following:
“The tax levy is projected to increase 1.76%, approximately half of the allowable tax Cap, while the average tax rate per thousand will decrease 4.71%.”
In other news, the Steuben County Administration Committee will be taking another step towards hiring a new county attorney. Several candidates have sent in their resumes to take the place of Jennifer Prossick, who resigned in August. One possibility is making it so the new county attorney does not have to live in Steuben County. All of these issues will be discussed at today’s county meetings.
