Steuben County DA And Judge Chauncey Watches Angry Over No Shows In Jury Selection

October 3, 2024

Larry Schoonover is the suspect in a case of a standoff with State Police, Bath Police and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department in August of 2023 in Bath. Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker tells us that not enough jurors showed up for jury selection, so a mistrial was declared, and the Larry Schoonover case, has been postponed for another month. “I know the judge was very upset by this and there is a possibility of arrests for those people who do not show up for jury summons,” Baker tells Wlea News. “It’s not something we’ve ever done in my 30 years in the D.A.’s Office, but it’s something the judge is taking a serious look at now, because it’s becoming a very serious problem.”
