Steuben County Lawmakers Concerned About Saving St. James

November 23, 2014

BATH, NY –  Steuben County legislative spokesperson Mary Perham says that when county legislators meet in regular session at 3:30 p.m. Monday, they are expected to request state government leaders, including Governor Andrew Cuomo and other officials to ensure future health care in western Steuben County.

According to Ms. Perham, the decision to close down hospital in patient services means people now served by the 125-year-old hospital will have to travel 40 miles-50 miles for emergency, maternity and inpatient care.

Also on the agenda are a number of items requiring passage before legislators vote on approving the 2015 budget, now pegged at $175 million, with a proposed levy of $49.5 million.
