Steuben County Looking For Disaster Drill Volunteers

February 4, 2015

BATH, NY –  Officials with the Steuben County Public Health Department are looking for volunteers to prepare for a bioterrorism disaster by participating in the department’s “Mass Antibiotic Dispensing Drill.”

The drill is slated for Thursday, February 19th, from 1pm-3pm, at the Aisne Street entrance of Corning-Painted Post High School, 201 Cantigny St., Corning.  During the drill, volunteers will be asked to register, walk through the clinic, and receive simulated
“antibiotics.” For this drill, all county residents are believed to be exposed to a toxin that requires antibiotics to prevent illness.
It is important to note there will be no real toxin present and no real antibiotic will be administered.

The drill will run for two hours, and requires more than 300 participants, including senior citizens, pregnant women and children.

Volunteers may pre-register at: http://www.health.ny.gov/Go2Clinic. Volunteers should select
STEUBEN and register for the “L-5 Deliverable Exercise Campaign/C-PP HS Public Health Anthrax
Drill.”
