Stolen Car, DWI Charges, In Alfred

From Alfred Police Chief Paul Griffith:

At about 23:57 APD received a 911 call for a person that was in an accident on County Route 12 in the Town of Alfred. Alfred officers found the first vehicle on County Route 12 and a second vehicle that was on Lake Road, which been taken from the Alfred University Equestrian center. The second vehicle had tracks leading from the vehicle and the driver was tracked about 100yards into a wooded area where they found Tyler Cowburn, 26, of Wellsville. Cowburn was taken into custody at that time by Alfred Officers. Cowburn had stolen the first truck from a residence in the Village of Wellsville. He crashed the first vehicle due to intoxication and icy roads and then stole a second vehicle and drove it across AU property but was stopped by a gate.

Cowburn was charged with:

Unlawful possession of Marihuana
Leaving the scene of a Motor vehicle accident
Aggravated Unlicensed Operation
DWI 1st offence
DWI with BAC grater then .08
Drinking an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle
Criminal Trespass 3rd
Grand Larceny 4th
Criminal Possession of a Firearm
Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle
Speed unseasonal and prudent
Failure to keep right

Cowburn was released to a 3rd party on appearance tickets. Cowburn has stolen several other cars in the Wellsville area and due to bail reform he has been released each time he has been arrested.
