BATH, NY – The D.E.C. says they’re seeking volunteers to participate in the Winter Raptor Surveys for the 2023-2024 season. DEC wildlife personnel are holding an information session on October 5 at 7 p.m. at Ted Markham Nature Center, 6732 Mossy Bank Park Road, Bath, about this. The DEC says their goal is to identify habitat used by threatened northern harriers and endangered short-eared owls during their nonbreeding, wintering period.
See statement from the D.E.C.: The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced today it is seeking volunteers to participate in the Winter Raptor Surveys for the 2023-2024 season. DEC wildlife personnel are holding an information session on Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. at Ted Markham Nature Center, 6732 Mossy Bank Park Road, Bath, NY, 14810, for interested participants. DEC’s goal is to identify habitat used by threatened northern harriers and endangered short-eared owls during their nonbreeding, wintering period. Stationary surveys are conducted from mid-November to late April and begin one hour before sunset.
